Benjamin as a Workaholic
Those were the days when Benjamin Blümchen (34) had the time to lay on a nice green meadow stretching his legs into the air like a big grey mountain. In times of economic crisis even Benjamin can't just live for the day. He instead earns the money for the zoo rent with some hard job-hopping.
In my new Benjamin puzzle ("A Day With The Fire Brigade ") he first prevents the silence of the lambs while working as a fire fighter.
Then the new Benjamin game I illustrated ("Job Lotto") shows the whole job situation of the elephant: he has to work in four more pretty different jobs one harder than the other... beware of burnout, Ben ;)

SAW V
...and I'm not talking about inhuman torture, but about the fifth jigsaw puzzle I have illustrated for Schmidtspiele! It's from the Schmidt's Katze series again and this time S.'s C. plays hide and seek with it's meal...erm, friends, I mean :)
Best entertainment for crappy weather :) Beste Unterhaltung bei beschissenem Wetter :)

Schmidts Katze & die Mäusebande
Also ich sach ma: Getz gehtet ab wie Schmidt's Katze! (this is a German saying and I think it means the same as "it takes off like a scalded cat" or something.)
Schmidts Katze from Schmidt Spiele is a fast hide and seek memory game for kids of four years of age and over. Slip into the role of a mouse and try to hide from the (friendly) Schmidt's cat (it just wanna play with the mice... honestly :)
And I like most that they have named one of the eight mouse-character after me: Timo Tollkühn :))
(engl. Timo Temerarious <-- that will definitely become my new gangster rapper nick name ;)
Get the game on amazon.de and do you already know the "Schmidts Katze" puzzle?

Schmidts Katze Puzzle
This is the first puzzle with the cat whose name hasn't been far from seeking for a publisher like Schmidt Spiele: Schmidts Katze :)
Get it here or better at the toys store of your trust :)

Making of Schmidts Katze
First cat sketches, that didn't really work well yet:
Drawing the cat in a walking pose was a literal step into the right direction. This evolution of the final sketch proves the rule: size (of the head) does matter!
On the basis of the finally inked cat character, I created a fur colour range. The editor chose the black one cos it was best to be combined with every coloured background.
After that, the fur painting had to be defined in detail.
And tadaaa (or meoow): Schmidts Katze was made!

Kugelhund
If you are already searching for the perfect christmas present for your 5+ years old kids, I warmly recommend the skill-game Kugelhund (Roly-Poly Dog or Chiens en folie pour nos amis francaise:) that has just been released at Schmidt Spiele (and I do not only recommend it, cos I did the illustration...!)
It's a real fun digging game and it even has it's own gameplay-trailer (OMG!)
From the game instruction:
Bella and Bello are completely over the moon! Their friend Isabella has come to visit unexpectedly. And of course they want to give her their best bones. But where on earth have they buried them? Oh yes, under the garden gnome and there, beside the watering can.
Bella and Bello run about tirelessly, burrowing here and digging there...
The one who guides them over the lawn skilfully and is first to dig up the bone for Isabella together with them wins the game.
My roly-poly dog on this year's games fair in Essen.

TÖRÖÖÖÖööö
Before ALF and The Hoffmeister (as Michael Knight) became my childhood heroes, there was this big, friendly and talking elephant Benjamin Blümchen and his smart friend Otto, whose cassette adventures made me fall asleep every single evening. All the happier I was to draw a Benjamin Blümchen puzzle (I had already drawn him when I was four, so I was practiced ;)
But believe me, it was harder than it looks to hit the pretty strictly defined style.
So get Benjamin Blümchen out with the refuse collection (...bei der Müllabfuhr)

Was nich passt, wird passend gemacht*
Samma, watt machen Bauarbeita, wennse Pause vonne Maloche habn? Schön Bütterken beißen und dabei passeln!
Fittingly my new puzzle for Schmidt Spiele deals with working on a building site again! So get the puzzle and enoy it as much as my little cousin did the last days... (the picture doesn't really convey the intense joy she actually had while piecing it together ;)
*what doesn't fit is made to fit!
