VIRUS infected

There is a double sided interview with me about my Blog of the Living Dead-Project in the current issue No. 32 of the Virus Magazine, Germany's leading Horror related journal.

And starting with this issue one of my zombies will be regularly published in the VIRUS Gallery Of Horrors! You can get the mag at the next newsstand or station bookstall or directly at Raptor Publishing!

Funky Colts

I want you to get ready for the 80th: Put on your hawaiian shirt, your pastel coloured jacket, your white sockless loafers and your aviator sunglasses! Don't forget to let your chest hair peek out of your shirt (if you're a woman, shave it. Please.) Switch on your Miami Vice soundtrack CD and let the world of the unforgettable 80th action series revive!
Because that is the world of Funky Colts - developed by Projekt Kopfkino and recently published by Prometheus Games. In this roleplay game you have the chance to create your own 70s or 80s action series with your own heroes and bad guys and bunnies and talking cars (if you like).

This is the cover-illustration I created in close collaboration with Isa Metzen.

and here are some of the characters I drew for the game

and some action-scenes

and some locations

So funky ya, motherfunker!

The Goon Guy!

Three weeks ago I had the chance to get a book signed by Eric Powell, the creator of The Goon-comic series at Mr.C in Bochum and to talk with him and even show my portfolio to him in Frankfurt. It was pure motivation to see my favourite and - in my opinion - one of today's best comic artist liking my stuff (and especially my zombies) :)

Back in November

Sooo, long time no post (on this blog). It's November now, my 365 day private Zombie trial is over (for now) and it's time for a little update on here! I just like my personal "Wheres is Zombie Waldo"-pic, so I post it on here, too!

Scandalous!

Look what happened! Some month ago I drew this two building site illustrations and sent them to the games publisher Schmidt Spiele.

And last week they sent the illustrations back, but when I opened the box I was taken aback at the state of my pictures: They were smashed into smithereens!! It's an outright scandal in my opinion! ;)

It was fun to fix it tho... they should think about making a puzzle out of it :P

Das Schreckgespenst

This picture was actually planned as a zombie pic for my other blog. But the silhouette and the scene in general let the creature finally become the boogeyman... and this picture unfitting for the blog of the living dead.

Slam, pirates! Yo-ho!

I have recently drawn this jolly roger-skull with crossed microphones instead of bones for the Wuppertaler Wortpiraten, a group of 3 authors who took up the cause of capturing the german poetry slam-scene. On board are Nina Behrmann, André Wiesler und David Grashoff, the head of Projekt Kopfkino and creator of Ratten!

Dominik Diesslin added the banner and the typo and so made a proper and pretty cool looking logo...

...and flyer out of it! Arr!

Napoleon

I'm pretty busy at the moment with illustrations for a new role play game. In the meantime take a look at this happy Napoleon I have drawn some times ago for HOB design. They made a 2,50 meters high wooden stand-up out of it for a city festival in Karlsruhe. Napoleon has never been that tall before...

Klick! Mathematik

In the last month I worked on two new books for Cornelsen's Klick!-Mathematik series. With every issue of the series the pupils in the books are getting older and the drawings change more and more from children's book to a comic-book style. Compare between the 3rd, 4th and 5th grade on the picture below or click here for the 3rd book's blog-post! To see "my kids" grow up and develop their own personality, really let them grow close to my heart ;)

Here are a few pages out of the 5th book:

Let's put a smile on a face...

“Welcome to wilderness, Ladies and Gentlemen ...

... my name is Wilbert Hampton Goodberry III. Forgive my being tied down a little bit to my present duties, but I have only just been informed about being favoured with the pleasure to introduce myself to you here and now.

RATTEN!! Cover-Preview

Finally I can present you a preview of the RATTEN!!-Adventure book called "Bissige Zeiten"("Snappy times") that will be published on the RPC in collogne in April!

Home2Paris

This month the Münster based Indie-Ska-Polka-Pop-combo (that's how they describe themselves) Home to Paris released their new and third record "Melodienwagen". I designed the Album cover for them again with all the band members playing as marionettes in an old barrel organ. Ain't it melodic :)?

YEAR version 2.9

A happy new Year version 2.9 to all of you - hope you didn't miss to update!
Same as last year my new chemnist's calender for 2009 is out and again I'm happy about it. This year's topic are famous cities of europe (and immediate neighbours like Russia).
It was fun as well as exhausting to draw the cities in a recognizable way and - above all - fill them with live.  So try to find the fox in the pictures and make out which cities I tried to illustrate in the several months.
