And another T-Shirt design. This time for my good mate's bachelor party that took place in Amsterdam this summer. I tried to combine all the motives that you associate with AMSTERDAMN on the shirt ;)
We wore the black shirts while the bachelor himself were allowed to wear a white special-edition ^^ Was a fun trip!
Und noch ein T-Shirt design. Diesmal für den Junggesellenabschied eines guten Freundes in Amsterdam. Dabei hab ich versucht, alle Motive, die man mit AMSTERDAMN verbindet auf dem Shirt zu kombinieren ;)
Wir hatten die schwarzen Shirts an, während der Junggeselle selbst eine weiße Speical-Edition tragen durfte ^^ Datt war ein spaßiger Ausflug!

Cornelsen Toilets & Poo Pics

Just imagine, you ate alot, and stomached alot and you have the uncomfortable feeling that you have to get rid of something... but you don't know where: In this situation, the new Cornelsen schoolbook I've illustrated some times ago, is just right for you. It's about toilets - the different kinds and history of loo garnished with funny facts and poo-pictures. One of the most entertaining jobs I've ever done^^
Stell dir vor, du hast massenhaft gegessen und massenhaft verdaut und hast das ungute Gefühl, etwas loswerden zu müssen... aber du weißt nicht wo: Dann ist das neue Cornelsen-Schulbuch, das ich vor einiger Zeit illustriert hab genau das richtige für dich! Es handelt von Toiletten - die verschiedenen Arten und die Geschichte des stillen Örtchens, garniert mit lustigen Fakten und Kacka-Bildern. Einer der unterhaltsamsten Jobs, die ich in letzter Zeit hatte^^

The Goon FanArt

First time in my life I took part in a fan art contest! Ininitated by Dark Horse, it was about creating a piece of art dealing with the Goon (one of my absolute most favorite comics) by Eric Powell (one of my most favorite comic artists). And... I didn't win. Buh! :(
And I thought that the t&t-theory (tentacles & tits) would make it :P
Ich hab zum ersten Mal in meinem Leben an nem FanArt-Contest mitgemacht. Von  Dark Horse ausgeschrieben ging es um the Goon (eine meiner Lieblings-Comicserien) von Eric Powell (einem meiner absoluten Lieblings-Comiczeichner). Und... ich hab nich gewonnen. Buh! :( Und dabei dachte ich, die T&T-Theorie würd's rausreißen :P

Just working on this dramatic thunder and lightning illustration for a new book project... it's fun and hope it will turn out as cool as I visualize it!

Ich arbeite gerade an dieser dramatischen Blitz und Donner-Illu für ein neues Buchprojekt... das ist ein Spaß und ich hoff, es wird so cool wie ich es vor meinem inneren Auge sehe!

Cornelsen Mathe Klick! 8

The Cornelsen math-school- and workbooks for the 8th grade are out for some time past! Regrettably the older my kids get, the less illustrations are needed for the book (as if thriteen years olds don't like to disfigure illustrations in school books any longer...)
Anyways, here are some illus from the book:
Die Cornelsen Mathe-Schul- und Arbeitsbücher sind seit einiger Zeit raus! Leider werden immer weniger Illus für das Buch gebraucht, je älter die Kinder werden (als wenn 13jährige nicht mehr gerne Illus in Büchern verunstalten würden...)
Wie auch immer, hier einige Illus aus den Bücher:

Schattenwald Geheimnisse Band 3 & 4

Volume three and four of the cbj's children's book series Schattenwald Geheimnisse (orig.: "Sophie and the Shadow Woods") are out now! This time Sophie the Guardian of the magic Gateway to the Shadow Realm has to fight against Spider Gnomes (book 3) and Fog Boggards (book 4) and stop them from finding the gems that are needed to open the Gate.
Here are a few illustrations from the books:
Band 3 und 4 der cbj Kinderbuch-Serie Schattenwald Geheimnisse sind gerade erschienen! Dies mal muss Sophie, die Wächterin der Pforte zur Schattenwald gegen Spinnengnome (Band 3 "Gefährliche Verwandlung") und Nebelirrwische (Band 4 "Die Nebelkönigin") kämpfen und sie davon abhalten, die Juwele, die zur Öffnung des Tores notwendig sind zu finden.

The Fog Boggard illustration above was made by my eleven years old cousin Anna. It's her first professionell publication in a children's book and it turned out pretty good!
Die Nebelirrwisch-Illu oben hat meine elfjährige Cousine Anna gezeichnet. Es ist ihre erste professionelle Veröffentlichung in einem Kinderbuch und sie ist echt toll geworden!

Some Schattenwald sketches and concept arts

The Spider Gnome looked ways too creepy for a children's book first (that's mostly the problem with my first sketches). So I had the idea to increase his fangs and give him a stupid expression with the result that it looked more like a dumb walrus at first sight.
Der Spinnengnom sah zuerst viel zu gruselig aus für ein Kinderbuch (das ist bei den ersten Entwürfen meistens das Problem). Ich hatte die Idee, seine Fangzähne zu vergrößern und ihm einen doofen Gesichtsausdruck zu verpassen, so dass er jetzt auf den ersten Blick eher wie ein dümmliches Walross aussieht.

Same problem with the Queen of the Fog Boggards. She looked just too spooky on the first sketch. But this time a few more hairs over her forehead and eyebrows were enough to make her suitable for children (I liked the first version better tho ;)
Das gleiche Problem gab's bei der Nebelkönigin. Auf den ersten Entwürfen sah sie einfach zu gespenstisch aus. Aber diesmal reichten ein paar Haare über der Stirn und Augenbrauen, um sie kindgerecht zu gestalten (ich fand die erste Version trotzdem besser ;)

And sometimes it's pretty hard to find the right color sheme for the cover illustration...
Und manchmal ist es echt ziemlich schwierig, die richtigen Farben für die Cover-Illu zu finden...

And finally (cos I like that illu) the Queen of the Fog Boggards in the shape of the sexy teacher, that everybody falls in love with... understandably ;)
Und zum Schluß (weil ich die Illu mag) noch die Nebelkönigin in Gestalt der sexy Lehrerin, die jedem den Kopf verdreht... verständlicherweise ;)
